Parent and Family Orientation

We offer 19 Ram Orientation sessions for first-year students from June through July. Orientation is a one-and-a-half day program that provides a vital introduction to the Colorado State community and we strongly encourage you to reserve and attend a session this summer with your student.

There is a $95 program fee for each parent, family member, or guest to attend Ram Orientation for First-Year Students.  This does not include lodging or parking for the program.

The fee covers meals with the program (lunch and dinner on day 1 and breakfast on day 2), materials, and staffing for your one-and-a-half day stay.

Orientation is about giving students the opportunity to learn more about Colorado State, to meet with an academic advisor and register for classes. It is also about families learning more about academics and student involvement at CSU, meeting with your student’s academic advisor and learning about how to support your student’s growth and development as a college student.

Students and their families who have attended have repeatedly told our staff that coming to Ram Orientation made the first year at Colorado State University much easier—students knew what to expect and where to go for assistance. Students also report feeling more comfortable in the Colorado State University community and making connections with other students, faculty, and administrators. Families felt more connected and knowledgeable about resources and how to successfully navigate through this time of transition.
